Relief Efforts-We need you!
We pray you are safe in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. We know that thousands in our city have been affected, including some of our friends and family members. Within our own TLC community we know that one member’s home was looted, at least three other families lost their entire first floor and another family lost both of their vehicles due to the storm. This storm landed in New York with a fury this generation has never seen.
The Legacy Center quickly switched gears to meet the needs of the people. We dispatched our trucks to bring relief to those who were hit in the Rockaways, within the first 24 hours. Within the next 48 hours we had trucks with supplies and teams of volunteers on the ground in both Staten Island and Coney Island. We have been moved to help the 8.4 million in our city because every one of those 8.4 million matters to us.
We have already received calls and emails from many friends asking, “How can we help?” If you or your friends and family would like to help we invite you to join us at The Legacy Center Warehouse. We are there daily preparing emergency kits, loading trucks and setting up distribution points throughout the city.
Among other things, we are expecting several shipments from 18-wheeler trucks loaded with supplies from friends of The Legacy Center outside of the tri-state area. Volunteers will be needed to help unload those trucks and prepare our trucks with supplies and to join us in the affected communities to distribute the relief supplies.
The Legacy Center Warehouse is located at 1633 Centre Street between Cypress and Wyckoff Avenue’s. You can also call at 347.292.4TLC or continue to check this website, www.tlcnyc.org/mylegacy and our social media sites for updates, pictures and videos.
For daily notifications on where we are and what we are doing please like and follow our Facebook and Twitter pages. Look for #TLCSandyRelief.
We invite you to partner with us in our effort to assist in restoring communities by joining our clean up teams, assisting in sorting, receiving and distributing resources in the warehouse or in affected neighborhoods or by making a donation. We’ve set up a Hurricane Relief Fund as a part of this relief effort. Simply click on the link below.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our city with you.
Hi,
I would like to donate old coats and warm clothing for the Hurricane Sandy donations. Can I drop them off at any time or what are your specific hours? Thank you!
Christine =)
I am trying to find out where the list is about the food that is needed to be prepared for Thanksgiving Day
