“Hope is everything. It’s the difference between poverty and success.”
Meet Amiricle. When we first met Amiricle and her grandmother, Betty, they told us that they were running out of hope. Their home was destroyed during Superstorm Sandy. Her husband started rebuilding but then passed away just a few months later, leaving her in an unfinished home to raise their granddaughter, deal with a cancer diagnosis and no funds to finish the project.
Amiricle was doing her best to keep a brave face on for her grandmother but they both knew they were out of options. That is, until The Legacy Center secured a grant to help families affected by Superstorm Sandy and brought in a team of volunteers from The National Soccer League to clean up her property. Here’s a video of Betty and Amiricle’s reaction the day we told them we would be rebuilding.
Betty and Amiricle moved back into their fully furnished home Thanksgiving day. Volunteers were on hand to help her cook and host her family for Thanksgiving Dinner. They delivered hope on large serving platters at a beautifully dressed dinner table. Visit our Facebook photo album to see the pictures.
Your generous contributions, both small and large bring hope to people who have run out of hope.
